Two organs, one accountable structure.
Our statutes (Article 8) set out two organs. One holds the final say; the other runs the work day to day.
The General Assembly
Our supreme organ, made up of all effective members. In plain terms: it has the last word.

The Steering Committee
Our executive organ. It carries out the work between assemblies and answers to the General Assembly.

Our statutes name the committee roles and the founding signatories — but list them separately, and do not map names to roles. So we don't assume who holds which role.

A note of honesty

Founding
The women jurists who signed the statutes and brought the association into being.
Effective
Active members who make up the General Assembly and carry the work forward.
Adherent
Members who join and support the mission and take part in our activities.
Honorary / Supporting
Those who stand with us in name and support, without an active operational role.
How we are funded, and how we account for it.
Where the money comes from
Per our statutes (Article 7), we are funded by members' monthly and annual dues and by special gifts from members and partners. As we grow, gifts and partnerships from those who support the mission help keep our services free for the women who need them.
How the accounts are checked
Per our statutes (Article 9), the accounts are prepared by the Vice-President and the Treasurer under the President, approved first by the Steering Committee, and finally by the General Assembly. No single person controls both spending and approval.
Our commitment
We are committed to publishing an annual activity and finance summary, once our reporting is in place and the figures are verified. We would rather publish honest numbers late than impressive numbers we cannot stand behind. [In Build]

Confidentiality
What you tell us stays with us. We do not share identifying information without consent.
Never where there is danger
We never use mediation where there is violence or risk. Safety comes first, always.
Referral, not improvisation
When a situation needs the police, medical care or emergency protection, we say so and help you reach it.
