Our statutes recognize four kinds of membership. Each carries its own rights and its own expectations. This page sets them out plainly, so you can see where you fit before you join.
The women jurists who created the organization and signed its statutes in Kinshasa on 10 March 2020. They carry the founding conviction and the long-term responsibility for the organization's direction and values.
Rights
Full participation and a voice in the General Assembly; standing as founders of the organization.
Expectations
Guard the mission and values, contribute their dues, and uphold the statutes.
Active, committed members who take part in the life of the organization and keep up their dues. Effective membership is earned through real, ongoing participation — and it carries the fullest voice in how the organization is run.
Rights
A seat, a voice and a vote in the General Assembly — our supreme organ, which approves the reports, votes the budget, and elects (and can revoke) the committee.
Expectations
Take active part, keep dues current, and help carry the mission forward.
Members who join in support of the mission and take part in activities. It's a welcoming first step into the community — and the natural path toward becoming an effective member as your involvement grows.
Rights
Belong to the community and take part in its activities and gatherings.
Expectations
Support the mission and contribute dues as set by the members.
People who support the organization through their standing, counsel or generosity, without taking part in day-to-day governance. Their backing lends credibility and strength to the whole.
Rights
Recognized standing as a supporter of the organization and its mission.
Expectations
Lend support — moral, advisory or material — to the organization's work.
How members shape the organization
All effective members sit in the General Assembly, which approves the activity reports, votes the annual budget, and elects — and can revoke — the Steering Committee. Membership is not a card; it is a real say in how the organization is run.
Funding (Article 7) comes from monthly and annual member dues, set by the members, plus special gifts from members and partners. Read our governance & transparency →
